Food intake including wild food and health is related to regional characteristics, but the situation and geographical differences of children are not clear. This article consolidates questionnaires participated by 376 children mainly in grades V and VI (mean age 11.95) in 4 schools in southeast Tanzania, Lindi region collected in September 2022. Food groups, wild food intake frequency, and health problems were compared between coastal/inland and rural/urban schools. Children on the coast ate fish and nuts more frequently especially in the dry season, and fruits were more frequently consumed in inland. Wild food intake was more frequent in remote villages, and least in the semi-rural village. Urban children had fewer health problems, and the least seasonal differences except an increase in fruits intake in the rainy season, but decreased wild food intake. Areas in remote rural areas have more health problems, and further research is necessary to understand its causes. |

Ulaji wa chakula ikiwa ni pamoja na chakula cha porini na afya unahusiana na sifa za mkoa, lakini hali na tofauti za kijiografia za watoto haziko wazi. Makala haya yanajumuisha hojaji zilizoshirikishwa kwa watoto 376 hasa wa darasa la V na VI (wastani wa umri wa miaka 11.95) katika shule 4 za kusini-mashariki mwa Tanzania, mkoa wa Lindi zilizokusanywa Septemba 2022. Makundi ya chakula, mzunguko wa ulaji wa vyakula pori, na matatizo ya afya yalilinganishwa kati ya pwani na bara, shule za vijijini na mijini. Watoto wa pwani walikula samaki na nazi/karanga mara kwa mara hasa wakati wa kiangazi, na matunda yalitumiwa mara kwa mara bara. Ulaji wa chakula cha porini ulikuwa mara kwa mara katika vijiji vya ndani ndani, na angalau katika kijiji cha karibu na mji. Watoto wa mijini walikuwa na matatizo kidogo ya kiafya, tofauti ndogo za msimu isipokuwa ongezeko la matunda katika msimu wa mvua, na ulaji wa vyakula vya porini. Maeneo ya mbali na vijijini yalikuwa na matatizo zaidi ya kiafya, na utafiti zaidi ni muhimu kuelewa sababu zake. |
